The New Times Marketing and Communication

Otherday I was going to write about the basic communication items that a company should have with its clients and started thinking which were the basic items of a few years ago, and which ones are now.

When I started, we created a brand, bought a phone number ( yes, we bought), created the documents and signed the phonebook.
That was the basic to get in the market, be in those yellow pages (there were two phonebooks, the subscribers one and the yellow pages that was separated by professional activity with business subscribers), that and sign on the door you would insert a company on the market.
Today the sign on the door has a restrictive regulation, no one uses the phonebooks and the documents aren’t so important because we don’t send a lot of letters or faxes.

And the start to all of this change is the internet.
The internet was a revolution to the way we work, the way we think, our business and our lives. Today, we have access to much information through the internet, my daughter does most of her school projects searching online and affirming the facts with textbooks.
Yet on Business world this changed it all, today our door sign is our website, and the signed phone book is your appearance on the search engines. In a way, everything looks a bit more democratic, because you add your address in the search engines and it will appear according with its content. But actually that’s not so easy, there are various techniques and ways to program the website that will make it appear before or after another one of another company which does the same thing as you. That way, starts to appear the need of the services from a professional, specialized in optimizing your website to the mechanisms of search.

The behavior of the user is also changing, he is becoming more Babbitt and too lazy to search, we notice that a person who search by the internet and doesn’t find what is looking for on the very first page, instead of looking the next, remakes the search.
This behavior of the user ended up bringing new professionals to the market, recycled others and will retire many others, it’s the modern economy performing one more transformation, and will extinguish a few more dinosaurs but will still give the opportunity to many others professionals with this new formation.
